President Muhammadu Buhari (retd) has told presidential aspirants to sell their candidatures to the electorate. So far, eight aspirants have declared their interests in taking over from him when his tenure ends in 2023. The President was quoted to have advised them not to compromise the integrity of the APC and the Federal Government.
The aspirants are: Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Rotimi Amaechi, David Umahi, Yahaya Bello, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, Senator Rochas Okorocha and Ihechukwu Dallas Chima.
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has told his party’s presidential hopefuls to be careful in their campaigns. He also asked them if they were popular enough to win and if they could deliver the presidency to the ruling party, according to a source close to him.
He also said no one should ask him to appear before a court to give evidence on any public issue. One of the presidential aspirants, however, confirmed that the President gave him permission to enter the race.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, he said: “You think I would enter into this race without securing the permission of the President?”.
