Over 5000 Nigerian Students Stuck in Ukraine
Nigerians will not be evacuated from Ukraine until the European country’s airports are reopened. Several Ukrainian major cities, including the capital, Kyiv, were shelled and rocketed during the invasion of the country by Russia. Countries such as India and South Africa have established offices at the Ukrainian-Polish border to evacuate their citizens.
Nigeria’s Federal Government is concerned about the safety of the 5,600 Nigerians in Ukraine. Foreign Affairs Minister Geoffrey Onyeama made the revelation in Abuja on Friday. Nigerian students in Ukraine have submitted Save Our Soul telegram to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Onyeama, said he discussed the potential of Nigeria getting its citizens out of Ukraine. The Russian envoy warned him that there might be risks involved in such a move and urged him to stay on his side.
