Nice (Andrew) Omininikoron allegedly raped the female victim on November 25, 2021. This was in response to calls for justice for Oluwabamise Ayankole. Her body was discovered in Ebute Ero after she was last seen on a BRT bus.
On Thursday, the lady told our correspondent about her ordeal and accused the 47-year-old of rapping her on the BRT bus. After she left work at 8 p.m., the former sales girl at a business in Ajah said she boarded the suspect’s BRT bus. When the driver was supposed to take her from the Alesh Bus Stop in Ajah to Jakande on the Lekki Epe Expressway, things took a turn for the worse. “While we were on our way, he turned off the bus’s light, but the AC was still on,” she explained. He abruptly parked the bus as we approached the first toll gate going from Ajah. He then motioned for me to take a seat in the front and began asking me a series of questions. Omininikoron.
“I spotted him using a narcotic, and I assumed he parked the bus so he could take it before time ran out.” He began making approaches towards me a few minutes later, and I could see that his manhood had grown. “I grew very uneasy and demanded to be let down, but he refused to unlock the door.” He stated he wanted us both to relax and that he wanted to have sex with me, but I declined. He suddenly pulled out a knife and forced me to the bus’s back seat. He demanded that I remove my clothes, but I refused. He threatened to assassinate me. He tore my gown, yanked down the biker shorts I was wearing, and raped me.
The victim said she could not call for help because Omininikoron parked the bus at a desolate location, adding that he refused to let her go after allegedly raping her.
She added, “He insisted on driving me to my destination at Jakande Bus Stop. When we got to my bus stop, he still didn’t open the door. He demanded my account number and started pleading over what he did. He said he wanted to send money to me to buy painkillers.
“I refused to give him my account, but he kept demanding and refused to open the door. Before he raped me, he seized my phone, and because I needed evidence, I gave him my account and he sent N3,000. He then opened the door and I left. “ I could not speak out because I was ashamed of what happened and believed I could not get justice. But when his pictures started circulating online regarding the death of the lady (Oluwabamise), I told my friend that I knew him (Omininikoron).
“After seeing his coloured photo, I went to my bank and asked my statement of account, tracing the day he sent me the money, and it was the same name, Omininikoron Nice, as in the circulated picture.”
“I told my friend about it and she introduced me to a rights activist. Some people may question me for speaking out now, but I am speaking out because of the girl. That man must not be freed because he is responsible for what happened.”
A statement of account provided by the victim confirmed Omininikoron sent N3,000 to her on November 25, 2021.
A video clip of her torn clothes was also seen by our correspondent.
CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, a police spokeswoman, asked the victim to file an official complaint of the event. “If the victim has a case against him, she should report to the nearest police station or the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba,” he added, adding that the case would be examined.
